Caribbean eSIM Field Report
Heading to Caribbean? Sarge has your travel data briefing ready. Check the quick answer, country warnings and plan snapshot before you buy.
Caribbean eSIMs are useful for island-hopping, but the country list matters more than the word Caribbean. Check every stop before buying.
Regional Caribbean plans do not always include every island. Check each stop before buying, especially cruises, transfers and island-hopping trips.

Sorting uses stored GBP guide prices first. Provider-page rows, from-prices and non-GBP prices stay visible for research, but final provider checkout is the source of truth.

Do travel eSIMs work in Caribbean?
Regional coverage varies by provider and island. Cruise routes, ferry days and smaller islands need careful checking. Always confirm coverage, activation rules and supported networks before buying.
How much data do you need?
For one island, a local plan may be cleaner. For multiple islands, compare regional 5GB, 10GB and 20GB plans. Heavy users should be wary of unlimited-style wording and check fair-use and hotspot terms.
Do you need calls or just data?
Most regional Caribbean eSIMs are data-only. WhatsApp and email usually work over data, but normal calls and SMS need your home SIM or a plan that clearly includes them.
Can you use hotspot?
Hotspot is handy for villas, cruises and family devices, but coverage at sea is different from coverage on land. Do not assume a normal land eSIM covers cruise days.
When should you install your eSIM?
Install before your first flight or sailing day. Keep the QR code, app login and setup instructions saved offline.
Sarge's warnings
- Regional does not mean every Caribbean island.
- Cruise, ferry and at-sea coverage need separate checking.
- Download maps and booking details before travel days.
Caribbean eSIM FAQ
Is an eSIM cheaper than roaming in Caribbean?
Often, but not always. Compare your mobile network roaming deal with the checked plan price, data allowance, validity and hotspot rules before buying.
Should I keep my normal SIM on?
Yes if you need normal calls, bank texts or two-factor codes. Use your travel eSIM for data and watch your phone settings so your home SIM does not use expensive roaming data.
Can I buy after I land?
Sometimes, but Sarge prefers installing before departure on reliable Wi-Fi. It avoids airport stress, app access problems and QR-code hunting after a long flight.
